I’m excited to share that I completed Cluster 4: Introduction to Astrophysics at UC Davis COSMOS this summer! 🌌

Over four weeks, I explored Foundations of Astronomy, Star and Planet Formation, Stellar Evolution, and Cosmology, learning how astronomers combine

observations, physics, and computational tools to investigate the Universe. I also had the opportunity to attend inspiring seminars and special-topic talks by distinguished guest speakers,

which introduced us to current research and new perspectives across different scientific fields.

One of the highlights was completing an astrophysics research project with Professor Matt Richter focused on analyzing the Stellar spectrum of a mystery star. I examined its spectral features to

estimate its surface temperature and determine its stellar type and spectral class, comparing my observations with reference spectra from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) stellar spectral library. It was fascinating to see how much we can learn about a distant star simply by analyzing its light that reaches us. šŸ”

I’m especially grateful to Professor Matt Richter, Professor Tucker Jones, and the entire Cluster 4 team for their guidance, encouragement, and enthusiasm throughout the program. Their different perspectives made the experience both challenging and reward

I’m leaving COSMOS with new knowledge, wonderful friendships, and an even stronger desire to continue exploring the questions that first drew me to astrophysics.

Thank you, UC Davis COSMOS and the entire Cluster 4 team, for an unforgettable summer! ✨
