I’m excited to share that I have successfully completed the NASA GeneLab for High Schools (GL4HS) Basic Course 2026, a 12-week summer training program offered through NASA Ames Research Center. I received my Certificate of Completion on August

28, 2026.

GeneLab for High Schools introduces students to NASA’s Space Biology research and explores how biological systems are affected by the conditions of spaceflight. During the program, I learned about omics-based research, bioinformatics, computational biology, and transcriptomics, including techniques used to analyze large biological datasets.

The course combined recorded lectures with hands-on JupyterLab notebooks, providing an opportunity to work with computational approaches used in modern biological research and to understand how these methods can be applied to NASA Space Biology science.

One of the aspects I found most interesting was the intersection of different scientific fields. Space biology brings together biology, computer science, data analysis, and space science to investigate how living systems respond to environments beyond Earth.

Completing GL4HS gave me a deeper appreciation for the role of computational research in space exploration and introduced me to another fascinating area of space science that I hope to continue exploring.
